My name is Dr. Praddy Kaushik. I'm a geospatial science and data visualisation scientist, living in the Netherlands. On paper, my profile shines. Behind it are ten months of applying everywhere, preparing for every interview, showing up with everything I had, and reading the same sentence again and again: "We've decided to move forward with other candidates."

After a while, rejection stops feeling like news and starts feeling personal. And every time I opened LinkedIn, everyone else seemed to be "thrilled to announce" something.

The night after

Then a junior wrote to me: "Ma'am, I'm losing hope. I give my 100%, but I keep getting rejected. I think I've applied to more than a thousand jobs."

It stayed with me. Not because rejection is unusual, but because we have made it feel that way. We celebrate every win in public and carry every no in private, so the people still waiting believe they are the only ones.

The turn

My work as a scientist has always been about making the invisible visible: taking data that no one looks at and turning it into something everyone can understand. That night I realised rejection is the largest invisible dataset in every career. Everyone has it. Almost no one shows it.

What I am building

#UnfilteredProfile is a collection of the moments behind extraordinary success. The world's leading founders, CEOs, business tycoons and women leaders share one moment from before it all, often for the first time: the rejection they still remember, the night they believed it would not happen, and how they found their way through.

My goal is to make this the world's most honest record of what success really looks like from the inside, and to place each story where it can do the most good: in front of someone who is about to give up.
